Case Study
The Challenge
The goal was to build a scalable and modern e-commerce engine that goes beyond a simple storefront. I needed to handle diverse product categories—ranging from electronics to fashion—while ensuring fast page loads, real-time updates (like cart counts and filtering), and a seamless mobile-first user interface. The primary technical challenge was managing complex product variations and high-resolution image processing without sacrificing performance.
The Solution
I utilized Ruby on Rails for the robust backend architecture, leveraging Active Storage for efficient media management and PostgreSQL for complex relational data. To achieve a "Single Page App" feel without the overhead of a heavy JavaScript framework, I implemented Hotwire (Turbo and Stimulus). This allowed for instant UI updates during product filtering and sorting. The design was crafted using Tailwind CSS to ensure a premium, minimalist aesthetic that adapts perfectly to any device.
